Kanipakam is a small
village on the bank of the Bahuda river. The word “Kani” means Wetland, and
“Pakam” means the flow of water. According to the Puranas of
kanipakam vinayaka temple, Sri Varasidhi Vinayaka swamy was self
manifested(Swayambu). This kanipakam temple was built
in the 11th century by Chola King Kuluthunga Chola-I -I
and expanded in 1336 by the emperors of the Vijayanagara Dynasty.
Brahmotsavams are held in Kanipakam for around 21
days starting from Vinayaka Chaturthi.
